Miss E – 7 day old sweetie who made the cutest little sounds | Melbourne Newborn Photographer

My lucky run with sleepy bubs continued with the lovely Miss E – she slept through almost the entire session, only waking near the end, in the meantime making some of the cutest little sounds.  That meant we were able to capture some great shots with a few new items I have been buying on my new favourite site, Etsy.com, which is a very addictive site.    Warning – if you have a weakness for gorgeous handmade items of every type, stay away from that site.  You have been warned!!!!

I couldn’t wait to see how the session had come out, so just had to have a quick play.  S, please enjoy Miss E – will have the rest ready for you soon

Mr J – 8 days old + heater + sleep lamb = 1 sleepy newborn | Melbourne Newborn Photographer

My run with lovely sleepy newborns has continued – his mum told me when I walked in that he had been sleeping for 3 hours now, so he might wake up any minute.  So I spent the time on tenterhooks, not knowing how many shots we would get before Mr J decided it was feeding time- luckily with the combination of the heater and my sleep lamb, he slept for yet another hour, allowing us to get some great captures.

Victoria’s bushfires – how we can help | Melbourne Photographer

I know many of us want to help out the bushfire victims but are not sure just what they can contribute.  Many people have been donating food and bedding, clothing, and blood which is great, but now the Red Cross are crying out for money donations even more so.  Even the smallest amount will help.

There are a couple of ways you can make your money go further though.

The Red Cross Bushfire Appeal

At their website:- Red Cross is all the information you need to do a secure online donation or if you prefer there is a toll free number so you can call and donate over the phone.

 Coles

If you can hold off until Friday to do your big grocery shop, Coles supermarkets will donate all profits from that day to the bushfire appeal. Please pass on to friends, family and colleagues (as well as those interstate as this applies to all Coles supermarkets throughout the country).  See the link below for more details.

Myer Bushfire Appeal

Myers will match any donations that go through them, $1 for $1.  Here is the info:-

Donate at any Myer store in Victoria from 9am Monday, February 9. Myer will match donations up to $500,000 dollar for dollar, aiming to raise $1 million. Proceeds to the Salvation Army for distribution in fire-affected communities.

Note: this is Victorian Myer stores only.

These are just a few things we can do.  And remember, all money you donate is tax deductible.

Most importantly though – these areas also need time to grieve – so the last thing they need is rubberneckers going to look at them and their townships at the moment – the best way we can help them is by ensuring they have the ability to rebuild their lives as best as they can via donations.

Such a dark day for Victoria

In the aftermath from this weekend, it is still numbing that so many have lost so much, in fact when my hubby came home from work on Saturday afternoon (he had not been listening to any radios), he said “thank goodness the State has survived such a bad day as today now the cool change is here, without too much damage”.  I then filled him in on how bad it had been from what I had been monitoring on the ABC. Since then, the news has just gotten worse.  Saturday night we could see the incredible thunderheads being created from the fires, and when it got dark, could see the glow on the horizon stretching from Wandong to Whittlesea  and out past Kinglake. We even drove through Marysville a couple of months ago, and had lunch there and walked around the town, can’t believe that whole town is now gone. My thoughts and prayers are with those who have lost much, it is so hard to take in that this is real.
